About

Truckload O’ Comics started for a simple reason. It’s really fun. Producer Kenny DeForest is a Springfield native (Kickapoo/Drury grad) that is now a stand up comedian based in Chicago. Once upon a time, he thought it would be really fun to bring a few of his funny friends (of which there are many) to Springfield to do a comedy show. He chose Primas as his venue because, not only does it’s party room makes a perfect venue for a comedy show, but the Hernandez family are wonderful people that run a wonderful restaurant with the best Mexican food and margaritas in town. This sounded like too fun of a time to pass up. So they did it and it was, as it would turn out, a really fun time. The show went so well and people got so excited about Chicago comedy, it’s become a thing.

What started as a fun road trip for Kenny and his friends has grown in to Springfield’s number 1 destination for top notch, unfiltered, and, most importantly, funny stand up comedy. It’s grown so big, in fact, that we’ve begun reaching out and bringing in the best rising stars in all of Entertainment. With folks like Al Jackson (Comedy Central Presents, Live at Gotham, TBS Just For Laughs) and Nikki Glaser (Tonight Show, Last Comic Standing) already set to perform in 2011, it suffices to say that we’re very excited about what we’ve accomplished and what we can continue to accomplish moving forward. The best comedians in Chicago and all over the country are now invading our fair city. Get ready.

Like us on facebook, follow our producer on twitter (@KennyDeForest), and listen to Fotch & McClain on Power 96.5 the week leading up to the show to get a sample of who’s coming down each month as the performers will be featured on “stand up school”. If you do these things, and then join us the last Saturday of every month (unless weʼre adjusting around a holiday) at Primas Mexican Grill at either 8PM or 10PM, we can promise a Saturday night to look forward to with delicious, homestyle Mexican cuisine, a margarita or six, and the best stand up comedy the midwest has to offer. The only thing you need to bring is a desire to laugh, party, and enjoy some live entertainment. Can yʼall do that? GREAT! See ya soon…
